Round-up 3/3

pile of tools I’m writing this entry with Windows Live Writer.  It works surprisingly well with WordPress.  You get a live preview of how your entry will look on your site as you type it; uploading and resizing images is a completely automated task (it even adds that nice little drop shadow); and I just find it easier to write in than the web-based control panel writing environment.

Another awesome tool: Firebug.  It’s a Firefox extension that lets you manipulate a web site’s code and see the changes live.  Really handy for tweaking designs and figuring out what code changes what.  In that respect it might even be a good way for novices to learn how to customize their own designs.  Of course to make the changes permanent, you still have to take what you find in Firebug and put it into the actual site’s files, which can sometimes be easier said than done.

Not much else going on.  I’m playing altogether too much World of Warcraft (level 61 now!) and I don’t even have the “listening to audiobooks” excuse because I stopped listening to The Gunslinger about a week ago.  Also playing a lot of Audiosurf.  Easily the most hours of fun I’ve ever gotten out of a 10 dollar game.  More than most 60 dollar games even.  I’m getting pretty excited about GTA4, hopefully that doesn’t suck.
